Kozhikoden's

A Legacy of
Malabar, Since 1900

Long before Kozhikodens became a name known across the world, its story began with a simple family business rooted in hard work, tradition, and the flavours of Malabar.

In the early 1900s, Kuttiyan Koya began his journey in the coconut business. What started as a humble trade laid the foundation for a family legacy built around entrepreneurship, quality, and a deep connection with the local community.

In 1958, his son, Ali Koya Manalody, joined his father in the business. Alongside the family trade, Ali Koya began exploring the world of traditional Malabar snacks. From their own home, he started preparing Banana chips and supplying them to small shops in the nearby areas. It was a simple beginning, but it carried with it a bigger vision — to bring the authentic taste of Malabar to more people.

As demand grew and the family's passion for traditional flavours became stronger, this humble home-based venture took its next important step.

The Story Continues...

Since 1987

Ali Koya Manalody established the First Kozhikodens bakery in Mankavu, Calicut. This marked the beginning of Kozhikodens as a brand, built on the same values that had shaped the family business for generations: authentic taste, uncompromising quality, and genuine dedication to the craft.

As the business began to grow, Ali Koya’s sons — Haris Manalody, Japhar Manalody, Sarjas Manalody (late) and Faijas Manalody — joined their father in the business. Working alongside him, they became part of the journey and carried forward the family’s passion for traditional Malabar flavours, quality, and entrepreneurship. With the next generation joining hands with their father, the foundation was laid for Kozhikodens to grow from a small family venture into a larger and more ambitious business. What began with traditional snacks and sweets made for small local shops gradually grew into a much larger journey. Over the years, Kozhikodens evolved from a humble local venture into a globally recognized brand, carrying the authentic taste of Malabar to customers across 28 countries.

Synonymous with exceptional taste, uncompromising quality, and true Malabar authenticity, Kozhikodens has earned the trust of generations. Through visionary leadership, dedication to traditional recipes, and a commitment to excellence, the brand has become a household name in the world of Malabar savouries and sweets.

A major milestone in our journey came in 2010, when Kozhikodens began exporting its products to the Middle East. This marked the beginning of an international expansion that has since taken the authentic flavours of Malabar to markets around the world. Today, Kozhikodens proudly exports to countries including the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Germany, Ireland, Singapore, New Zealand, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the UAE, South Africa, Malta, and many more.

Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is located at the Food Park Special Economic Zone, KINFRA Techno Industrial Park, Kakkanchery, near Calicut University. Maintained to the highest standards of hygiene and food safety, the facility combines advanced technology with the skilled craftsmanship that preserves the traditional flavours our customers love.

By utilizing the latest Vacuum fry technology, we ensure products that are hygienic, high-quality, and true to their authentic Malabar roots. Kozhikodens is also export-ready, offering Frozen and retort-processed (sterilized) products while maintaining the same freshness, taste, and quality that define our flagship range.

Over the years, our commitment to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction has been recognized through numerous accolades, including prestigious Best Exporter Awards and several industry recognitions. These achievements reflect our unwavering dedication to delivering excellence in every product.

Today, Kozhikodens continues its mission of bringing the authentic taste of Malabar to the world — honouring tradition, embracing innovation, and sharing a legacy of flavour that has been cherished for generations.

From the coconut trade of the early 1900s, to homemade banana chips in 1958, from a small bakery in Mankavu in 1987 to a global presence across 28 countries — the journey of Kozhikodens is more than a business story.

It is a story of family, tradition, perseverance, and the timeless taste of Malabar.
